It's the Thought that Counts.

When someone gives a card and no gift to someone for some occasion, they often apologize for not giving a gift. The person receiving the card will usually say, "That's Okay. It's the thought that counts." I do agree that in such a case, it is the thought that counts. I have taken to using this phrase on other occasions and it has been pretty funny because it does not really work.

My mom came to visit me just the other day and I told her I was craving English Toffee. I said this because I knew she had made some and I was hoping that she brought some over for us. She said, "I thought of bringing you some and I had some ready to bring but somehow I got out the door without it. I'm Sorry." So of course, I said, "That's Okay. It's the thought that counts." I then pretended like I was eating the invisible Toffee and really enjoying. It really did not taste like English Toffee though, so I don't think the thought counted.

I was talking to a friend about Christmas Cards and she had commented that she had thought about sending out Christmas Cards but decided that it was just too much work. Again, I said, "That's Okay. It's the thought that counts." In reality, her other friends might be wondering what her year was like and what she might want to share at Christmas with them. Unless her other friends have mental telepathy, the thought really did not count.

Well, I want you to know, I have thought all year about eating healthier and exercising and have discovered that the thought really must not count or I would be a few sizes smaller. :) I thought you should know and since the thought does not really count, I am sharing it on my blog so that you know what my thought really is. :)
