Obituary

An Obituary is such a sad thing. It is not just the sadness that someone has died. I think it is sad how some one's life is summed up in just a sentence or two. The saddest ones, I think, don't even tell of the person's life but only of their death and funeral.

A dear friend of mine died this past week. I looked up his Obituary online and all it said was when and where he died and when and where his funeral will be held. Not a word about how he lived and loved.

This man struggled with Diabetes most of his life. He had even had to have a leg amputated because of complications with Diabetes. He lived within his means and shared with those around him what he felt was his excess. Most, seeing what he had, would say he had no excess. He was very sweet. He lived simply. He loved deeply. He suffered trials that most of us cannot even imagine. Even through his life struggles, he was cheerful and friendly. He truly knew how to count his blessings. I counted him among my many blessings and continue to be blessed by his friendship and love in spite of the fact that he has passed on into the next life.

Royce T. Grant, you are loved and missed. Thank you for everything you did for Steven, Lorenzo, and me. Thank you for being such a very good friend to us.
Love Always!
